Assistant Level Faculty Position - Synthetic & Bio-Organic Chemistry (JPF01571)

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of California, Santa Barbara, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in Synthetic and Bio-organic chemistry, broadly defined, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2020. The Department is seeking a PhD-level scientist who will establish a high impact, internationally recognized research program. All applicants with proposed research programs that broadly align with Synthetic and Bio-Organic Chemistry are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities of faculty members generally include a commitment to teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, recruitment and mentorship of graduate students, participation in university service and professional activities, and the development of actively funded vigorous research program of the highest quality. To qualify, applicants must have completed all requirements for a PhD in Chemistry (or equivalent) except the dissertation at the time of application. A PhD is required by the time of anticipated appointment; applicants who already have a PhD and postdoctoral experience are highly desirable.

Applicants currently holding an Assistant Professor position (or equivalent) are also encouraged to apply. A demonstrated record of excellence in research, collaborative research, and a record of teaching or mentoring experience, are desired. The University is especially interested in candidates that can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching and service as appropriate to the position.
